Student Reflection Journal — Fitness Testing Unit
Category: Fitness · 17-page printable PDF · Ages 5-6, 7-8, 9-10 · Free for ConnectedPE members
A 17-page student workbook that adds the missing layer to fitness testing: metacognition. Students open the unit with a confidence self-rating across all eight fitness components, then complete per-lesson reflection prompts and effort ratings for every session — building a written record of how their understanding, effort and results evolved together.
Fitness testing without reflection risks becoming measurement for its own sake; the journal turns each test into a learning event. Students connect effort to outcomes, identify strengths and growth areas in their own words, and finish the unit with evidence of progress they authored themselves — which doubles as rich assessment material for you.
Designed for Years 5–10 alongside the Fitness Tests app (fitnesstests.app), which supplies the testing data students reflect on — though it works with any testing protocol. Print one per student; the completed journals become the artefact parents actually understand at reporting time.
What students learn
