Galactic Calm-Down

Category: Fitness · 1-page printable PDF · Ages F-2, 3-4 · Free for ConnectedPE members

A space-themed mindful movement sequence — six steps that take students from launch to soft landing, designed for cool-downs, brain breaks or lesson openers. Works at desks, on mats, or in a circle; zero equipment; F–4.

Each step pairs slow movement with breathing — drifting through space, floating weightless, landing gently — giving young students concrete imagery for genuinely abstract skills: breath control, body awareness, stillness. Students self-select their challenge level, keeping the sequence accessible for the wriggliest and meaningful for the focused. Mapped to AC9HPEF03 and AC9HPEY202.

One page, endlessly reusable. Use it to land the class after high-energy games, to reset a rowdy classroom mid-afternoon, or as the closing ritual of every early-years PE lesson — the routine itself becomes the cue to calm. Pairs with The Reset for the older-student version of the same toolkit.
