Bjerring Tournament Template

Category: Games & Activities · 2-page printable PDF · Ages 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10 · Free for ConnectedPE members

A ready-to-run Bjerring round-robin template that solves a real organisational puzzle: how to run a fair tournament where individuals rotate partners rather than staying in fixed teams. Covers doubles formats for 4, 5 and 8 players and triples for 7 and 9 — with the rotation formulas pre-calculated so you never have to work out who plays with whom.

Scoring uses wins plus point differential, which keeps every point in every game meaningful — a team down big still fights for differential, and rankings reflect performance rather than luck of the draw. Because players are ranked individually across rotating partnerships, the format maximises both play time and fairness — nobody is carried and nobody is stuck.

Two pages with clear run-sheet instructions for a PE lesson. Ideal for net-wall sports (badminton, pickleball, volleyball, tennis) from Years 3–10, and the same format used in the No Man's Land unit's culminating tournament.
