Wiggle Oracle

Category: Games & Activities · 3-page printable PDF · Ages F-2, 3-4 · Free for ConnectedPE members

Wiggle Oracle is a fold-it-yourself paper fortune teller that hides eight movement challenges under its flaps: Starfish Stretch x5, Wall Push-ups x5, Penguin Waddle 10 steps, Tiptoe Cat Walk 10 steps, Rocket Jumps x5, Air Punches x10, Slow-mo Robot x5 and Balloon Breaths x5. A friend picks Blue, Pink, Gold or Lime, spells it, picks a number, lifts the flap and does the move, then says "Wiggle on!"

The chatterbox format does the engagement work: spelling and counting pace each round, the moves balance energising jumps with calming stretches and breaths, and an easier-version note (seated, slower, smaller) keeps every student in. A Design Your Own Oracle box with eight move lines and four spelling words turns early finishers into game designers.

Three pages: colour side, fortune side (print double-sided or glue back-to-back) and a six-step folding guide. Needs only scissors. Ideal as a brain break, transition, rainy-day or small-space activity for Foundation to Year 4. Pairs with Galactic Calm-Down and Movement Bingo.

What students learn

Students fold and play a paper fortune teller that prompts eight short movement challenges, practising locomotor and stability skills (penguin waddle, tiptoe walk, rocket jumps, starfish stretch), simple strength moves (wall push-ups, air punches), body control (slow-mo robot) and self-regulation through balloon breaths. Working with a partner they take turns choosing, spelling, counting and performing, building listening, turn-taking and the habit of moving between tasks. The easier-version note lets every student adapt a move to suit their body, and the Design Your Own Oracle task has students select and sequence their own eight moves and four spelling words, then teach a friend to play.
