Jump Into It! A 6-Station Skipping Skills Circuit
Category: Sport Skills · 3-page printable PDF · Ages F-2 · Free for ConnectedPE members
A rotating 6-station circuit that builds fundamental skipping skills for early-years movers — starting with ground-based rope games and building to two-foot turning and jumping. For F–2 students, the rope on the ground is the right starting point: shapes, walks and jumps over a still rope build the body control that turning-rope skipping demands.
The pack includes a station rotation map, teacher setup notes, coaching cues for every station, shared success criteria, and a 3-level challenge ladder (Foundation, Developing, Extending) so each child works at their own edge within the same rotation. The cues target the technique that matters at this age: soft, controlled two-foot landings, steady rhythm, and wrist-led rope turning. Mapped to AC9HPEF201.
Three pages, one rope per student, any open space. Use it as the opening weeks of a skipping unit that feeds into Jump It cards and the Jump It Passport as skills take off.
What students learn
Students practise fundamental movement skills (jumping, hopping, leaping, rope turning) in a variety of movement sequences and situations. They develop soft, controlled two-foot landings, steady jumping rhythm, wrist-led rope turning, and the confidence to progress through Foundation, Developing and Extending challenges at their own pace.
