Field Event Festival

Category: Sport Skills · 3-page printable PDF · Ages 9-10 · Free for ConnectedPE members

A six-station athletics circuit for Year 10 covering the full field-event suite: shot put, discus, javelin, long jump, high jump and triple jump. Bronze, Silver and Gold challenge tiers at every station let students self-select their stretch level, while peer coaching cues turn waiting time into coaching time.

Field events are hard to timetable — six events, limited equipment, one teacher. The festival format solves it: small groups rotate through all six stations in a lesson, the tier system keeps every ability level engaged, fun facts add personality to each station, and the class leaderboard tallies points across the session for a shared competitive thread. Mapped to AC9HPE10A01.

Three pages, print-and-go. Run it as the practical heart of an athletics unit, a carnival preparation session, or a repeatable format where students chase tier progression week over week. Safety-sensible station design keeps throwing and jumping areas cleanly separated.
