Using a Game Sense Pedagogy for Teaching Games

A professional development course for PE teachers, presented by Ray Breed. Part of the Games & Sport category.

Game-based approaches, such as game sense, have become a popular method for teaching and coaching games and the benefits of game sense are widely recognised and researched. However, it is very common that teachers find it challenging (as it is non-linear) and often resort back to more traditional (linear) teaching approaches. In this session, we will discuss the overall pedagogy of teaching games, then explore the importance and methods of questioning, including key strategies to help you take your games teaching to the next level. Many examples of effective questioning will be provided, and there will be opportunities to ask questions and discuss challenges.

Topics: Game Design, Game Sense, Games, Secondary, Student-Centred
