Zip Zap

A simple game that has participants thinking quickly and strategically.

Materials

None

How to Play

  1. Have players stand in a circle
  2. Explain that the aim is to pass an imaginary lightning bolt around the circle
  3. To pass the bolt players must clap their hands to the left or right and say ‘zip’ outloud
  4. The direction of the bolt can be clockwise or anti-clockwise and this can be changed at any time by the player next in the circle sending the bolt directly back
  5. Players can also choose to say ‘zap’ and point both hands across the circle, the player who is pointed too continues the game from their position

Note

  • If someone ‘zips’ when they are not suppose too or if they are delayed to respond, they are either eliminated or simply start a new game
  • As players become more familiar with Zip Zap it will get faster and more exciting, so allow a number of rounds to occur
