Bopper Name

An active way to encourage group members to learn names quickly!

Materials

A ‘bopper’ (a soft foam bat, or sleeping mat rolled up works well)

How to Play

  1. Participants are to stand in a circle
  2. Choose one person to stand in the middle and give them the ‘bopper’
  3. To begin the game, ask the ‘bopper’ to say another persons name and approach this person in the aim of ‘bopping’ them (on the torso or legs)
  4. The chosen person must then say their own name, followed by someone elses in the circle before the ‘bopper’ touches them
  5. If they are ‘bopped’ before getting their own and someone elses name out, they move into the centre and become the new ‘bopper’
  6. Continue until the game is moving quickly, indicating that members know each others names

Variations

  • To increase difficulty, instruct players to step in to decrease the size of the circle
